The South Windsor Public Education Fund Committee

The South Windsor Public Education Fund Committee announced the awarding of three grants to South Windsor public schools totaling $6,793.

The recipients are to be duly congratulated and the SWPEF Committee would like to thank the generous donors of our community for making these grants possible. The Committee will be looking forward to our next round of grant applications with a current deadline of May 31, 2012. Application forms are available on this website for our town’s educators.

Three Grants Awarded:

  • SWHS: Matt Eppler: $3,196 for 1 SMART Auto Response PE for 32
    students and 3 SMART Auto Response PE Receivers.
  • SWHS: Matt Eppler: $1,047 for 3 SMART Slates at $349 each.
  • Orchard Hill: Kelly Smagacz and Vicky Parent: $2550 for 2 Soundfield
    systems for the kindergarten classes which according to studies
    submitted, helps young students improve phonological awareness as well
    as stay attentive in class.

South Windsor Public Education Fund Announce Spring 2011 Grants

The South Windsor Public Education Fund Committee announced the awarding of four grants to South Windsor public schools. The recipients are to be duly congratulated and the SWPEF Committee would like to thank the generous donors of our community for making these grants possible.

The Committee will be looking forward to our next round of grant applications with a current deadline of November 30, 2011. Application forms are available on this website for our town’s educators.

Four Grants Awarded:

  • $2000 to SW High School. Applicants: Matt Eppler and Donna Lynch for SMART Response, PE interactive Response System and the SMART Slate for use with the High School Math curriculum and current SMART Board systems.
  • $2000 to Timothy Edwards Middle School. Applicant:  Alyssa Gwinnell: SMART Response PE Interactive Response system for use with the current SMART Boards for the 6th grade math curriculum.
  • $2000 to Eli Terry School: Applicant: Dana Vitterito for the Pre-School Outreach Program literacy kits.
  • $2000 to Eli Terry School: Applicant: Maura Buyak for Kindle for Kids for grades 3 through 5 reading intervention.

South Windsor Public Education Fund Announce Winter 2010-2011 Grants

In June 2010, The South Windsor Public Education Fund Committee announced the awarding of grants to our public schools.

The recipients are to be duly congratulated and the SWPEF Committee would like to thank the generous donors of our community. The Committee will be looking forward to our next round grant applications with a current deadline of November 30, 2010.

June 2010 - South Windsor Public Education Fund

SWHS-IF for a High School project - $3,700 plus an additional $300 from the SWPEF fund for a total of $4,000 (made payable to the High School). 
$1000 for High School for new Buildings for Consumer/ Safety Town.

Wapping Elementary - $1,000 grant for an "Outdoor Classroom" - garden.

Timothy Edwards Middle School
 $1,000 Jump Start
$1,762 Smart Board for Science Curriculum
 $1,500 General Music- World Drumming
 $1,360 Health Classes -CPR/AED training

Total Grants $7,922 from the South Windsor Public Education Fund and
$3,700 from the South Windsor High School Innovation Fund

May 2010 - South Windsor Community Foundation Rays of Hope Grants

$1,000 FISH-volunteers providing transportation for South Windsor residents.
$100 South Windsor Cultural Arts - Aid for Eight Annual Concerts
$250 Autism Families Connecticut  - Music therapy workshops
$1,000 S.W. Walk and Wheel Ways-Bike racks to encourage bicycling
$500 South Windsor Voices-Publishing an anthology of South Windsor poets
$1,000 - Kidspace Grant  - Scholarships for children with special needs to participate in programs to increase social, motor, and language development skills
$250 Friends of the S.W. Bark Park-Support volunteer efforts to maintain the park
$100 Boys Scouts of America -Support the construction of two Memorial Islands at Veterans’ Memorial Park:

January 2010 - South Windsor Public Education Fund

$2500 to Timothy Edwards Middle School, Applicant: Mr. Steve Anderson for an African World Drumming Program-a program which will enable general music students to perform and will provide the school with the appropriate drumming equipment.

$1770 to Timothy Edwards Middle School, Applicant: Ms. Nancy Simison for a Soundfield System to be installed in Alt. 6 which will benefit not only students but the town as this room is frequently used for community purposes.

$1250 to Orchard Hill and Wapping Elementary Schools, Applicant: Ms. Rebecca McCoy for the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test Third Edition
